I assume the code to unlock the phone from the carrier is different from the code to unlock the bootloader. On the same note, has anyone previously carrier unlocked their phone, then successfully unlocked the bootloader? When I tried following the bootloader instructions to unlock the bootloader (using the code provided from Motorola via AT&Ts unlock service) I got the error "code validation failure with status 7". Is this step skippable in anyway? I do not have an alternate sim card and do not plan to use this phone off of wi-fi. Again, scroll until you see step 6 and paste your unlock data string in the space provided. ![]() Scroll down to the bottom of the page that is displayed and click on NEXT. In the steps to unlock the phone to any carrier, it has the step: "Insert the SIM card from another wireless carrier". Go to the Motorola unlock website and login with your Motorola ID, or you can also use your Google ID. I went through the AT&T unlock request platform and received an unlock code. I went through the steps on the Motorola site and was informed my device was ineligible for unlocking the bootloader (due to being a carrier locked phone). ![]() ![]() Greetings, I have an older pre-paid motorola device I am no longer using and would like to unlock the bootloader.
